Lara Pulver (born September 1, 1980 in Southend-on-Sea , Essex , England ) is a British actress .

Life

Lara Pulver started jazz dancing at the age of eleven after her parents divorced . At the age of 13, she joined the National Youth Music Theater in London , laying the foundation for her artistic career. From 1997 she studied at the Bird College of Performing Arts and graduated three years later. From 2000 she played, sang and danced in numerous musicals on English theater stages. In 2008 she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for her role in the musical Parade .

Her screen debut she made in 2009 with a starring role in the third season of the BBC - series Robin Hood . She played the Lady Isabella of Gisborne . A little later, powder also got her first role in a US television series; in True Blood she portrayed the elf Claudine Crane . In 2011 she took on the leading role of Erin Watts in the tenth and final season of Spooks - In the sights of MI5 .

In 2012 she starred in the second season of the critically acclaimed BBC series Sherlock . Her portrayal as the opponent Irene Adler in A Scandal in Belgravia is given a clear contribution to the effect of the gripping episode. This role also meant their final international break, so she received in 2012 a nomination for the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Actress in a movie or miniseries .

In the Starz - History series Da Vinci's Demons plays powder a starring role. Since April 2013 she can be seen as the magician and political intriguer Clarice Orsini .

Pulver was married to the American actor Josh Dallas since 2007 , whom she met in 2003 while studying acting in England. They separated in 2011. Since December 2014, Pulver has been married to British-Indian actor Raza Jaffrey . In February 2017, they became parents to a son.
