Titanic is a British - Canadian - Hungarian television series based on the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912.
action
Southampton, April 10, 1912: Everyone is eagerly awaiting the Titanic's maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. At the last moment, Hugh Graf von Manton manages to get a cabin for his daughter Georgiana, who caused social uproar by participating in a demonstration for women's suffrage. Georgiana is rebelling against the class system and is not exactly thrilled to travel on the Titanic where she believes the system is best represented. Your mother Luisa cannot understand this. Maid Mabel Watson and the butler Kenneth Barnes of the Mantons also have to struggle with the class system, because they have to share the dining room with the employees of the newly rich Americans. When Kenneth snatches a book from Mabel and thus becomes the mockery of the others, she makes the decision to steal from Lady Luisa. She steals a valuable brooch from her and wants to attribute the theft to Peter Lubov. When Kenneth learns about it, he stops her and learns the real reason for the theft. Mabel's father is poor and they both need the money to survive. After the collision, Kenneth gives Mabel a letter, which is only allowed to open later, when she is saved. On board a lifeboat, Mabel opens the letter in which she bequeathed Kenneth his fortune.
Meanwhile, Georgiana discovers her affection for the American millionaire son Harry Widener - much to the delight of the two families. After the collision, Harry hopes Georgiana will find a lifeboat and be rescued. Georgiana and her mother Luisa are rescued, Harry and his father are killed, while his brother George and his mother are saved.
The Mantons attorney, John Batley, has to go to New York on business and is traveling in second grade with his wife Muriel. Muriel is not enthusiastic about this and clearly shows her dislike for her disappointed life and for her husband. When the Mantons invited her to tea in first grade, she vented her displeasure with her husband. In the confusion after the collision, Muriel confronts Luisa Manton with a dark secret of her husband. She knows about the count's affair and an illegitimate child. When the Titanic begins to sink, Luisa confesses to her husband that she knows about the affair and the child and that she will take care of the child if he does not survive the accident. Hugh is pulled out of the water half dead a little later and survives. John survived the accident too, but found his wife Muriel dead.
The stoker Mario Sandrini uses a trick to get his brother Paolo a job as a steward in the first class dining room. The brothers dream of starting a new life in New York. Paolo falls in love with the stewardess Annie Desmond, who lends a hand to second class passengers on the White Star Line. Despite their different opinions, the two immediately sympathize and that's why Paolo Annie proposes marriage shortly before the downfall. Annie thinks this is a joke, as the two have only known each other for three days, but when she gets a place on the ambulance and Paolo doesn't, she accepts the request. A little later, Paolo is pulled out of the water and dies in Annie's arms. When Annie is asked if she knows Paolo, she pretends to be his fiancée. Mario and others like the second officer Charles Lightoller and Jack Thayer managed to save themselves on the floating folding boat B. They are later picked up by another lifeboat.
Jim Maloney is to ensure that work on the Titanic's electricity is completed by the maiden voyage. That's why Thomas Andrews gives him a cabin in third class for himself and his family of six. Jim is happy that he can finally start a new life in America. His wife Mary is skeptical about this, and when she sees the cabin that is too small, she reproaches her husband. When Jim meets the Russian Peter Lubov in the third grade dining room, he has no idea that Peter and his wife will soon become closer. Mary and Peter discover their affection for one another. They finally kiss, which is not hidden from Jim. He goes after Peter, but Mary can hold him back. Jim calmed down, but has since become hostile to Peter. Little did the Maloneys and everyone else know that Peter Lubov is actually a nationally wanted police killer. When Peter is recognized by one of the other passengers, he kills him. As the Titanic sinks, Peter and the Maloneys try to hold their own against the class system to get onto the boat deck. As Mary sits in the lifeboat, the commanding steward expresses fear that it could break when fully loaded, which causes her daughter Theresa to leave the boat in a hurry. So that Mary doesn't get out of the car, Jim assures her to look for Theresa. Mary asks Peter to support him. Jim and Peter go on a search together. Jim finds his daughter on a locked staircase. He realizes that they have no chance of escaping this trap and drowns with his daughter. While searching for Theresa, Peter meets Paolo, who asks him to free his brother Mario. He and the Italian restaurant staff were locked in the ship's holding cell after a riot. Peter manages to open the door and free the men. It's the last time he's seen.
Thomas Andrews, the Titanic 's naval architect , is enjoying the trip, even though the work was only finished shortly before it left the port. He is proud of his work, even if, on instructions from J. Bruce Ismays, he had to make savings on the lifeboats, which comply with the legal requirements but not the number of passengers, in order to get more space on the promenade deck. He can be celebrated by the bridge group, consisting of actress Dorothy Gibson and billionaire John Jacob Astor VI. However, when the ship begins to sink and he sees the extent of the disaster, he reproaches himself and decides to go down with the Titanic . At the same time, the captain Edward J. Smith is going to court with him because he did not listen to the iceberg warnings and thus underestimated the danger. He too goes down with the Titanic .
