Stephen Campbell Moore , actually Stephen Thorpe (born November 30, 1979 in London , England ) is a British film and theater actor .

Life

Stephen Campbell Moore is the son of a telecommunications engineer and therapist at a London hospital; his older brother works as an engineer. Moore grew up in the British county of Hertfordshire , where he received his education at the local Berkhamstead School . Moore knew early on that he wanted to be an actor, so he went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama , from which he graduated in 1999. His stage name Campbell Moore - it is the name of his paternal grandfather - Stephen had to appropriate because there was already another actor named Stephen Thorpe .

Moore's career began at the theater; so he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company , with which he played at the Royal National Theater , among others . British director Stephen Fry finally discovered Moore in 2003 for his film Bright Young Things .

Moore gained international fame when he took on a role in Alan Bennett's play The History Boys , which took him to Broadway to New York City , Australia and Hong Kong , among others . When the play was adapted into the film of the same name in 2006 , Moore was also able to be won over as an actor.

In 2010, Moore played the Roman Messala in the remake of Ben Hur , who was originally played by Stephen Boyd .

Stephen Campbell Moore was dating actress Claire Foy , whom he met while filming The Last Knight Templar , since 2010 . They were married from 2014 to 2018.The marriage resulted in a daughter (* March 2015).
