Mary Josephine Doyle Kennedy (* 25. September 1964 in Clontarf in Dublin as Mary Josephine Doyle ) is an Irish actress and singer .

Life

Doyle Kennedy made her debut as an actress in the musical comedy The Commitments from 1991. In the comedy Marriage Not Ruled out (1997) she was seen at the side of Janeane Garofalo . She played one of the leading roles in the comedy Mystics - Gangster, Geister und ihr Meister (2002) and was nominated for an IFTA Award in 2003 . In the television series The Tudors , Doyle played Catherine of Aragón from 2007 . This role earned her the IFTA Award in 2008. She played a recurring role as Mrs. S on the series Orphan Black . In October 2017, it was officially confirmed that she will play the role of Aunt Jocasta in the fourth season of the television series Outlander .

As a singer, Doyle Kennedy performed intermittently with the music group Black Velvet Band . In September 2001 she released her solo album Charm . Her album Skullcover followed in 2004 and Mothers , the production of which took four years to complete.

Maria Doyle Kennedy has been married to Kieran Kennedy since 1988. Together they have four sons who were born between 1985 and 2008. One of the sons was born with Down syndrome .
