action
Animal trainer Tanya Rawlins comes to the African jungle with her assistant Marley. Here she wants to catch animals for American zoos. The big game hunter Weir tells her that the local regent, King Farrod, allows each expedition to hunt only one pair of each species. Tanya is sure that she can change the king's mind and goes to his birthday party the next day. There she meets Tarzan, Jane and Boy. The king does not let himself be deterred and sticks to his rule that only one pair of each animal species can be caught. Tarzan, on the other hand, wants to ensure that no animals may be hunted at all.
Tanya and Weir make the acquaintance of the king's nephew Prince Ozira, who wants to help them. The hunt begins the next day. At the same time, the king and his son Suli are murdered. After Ozira ascends the throne, Tanya, Marley and Weir begin capturing countless animals. Meanwhile, Tarzan finds out that Boy has given two lion cubs to the photographer Smithers so that he can take a picture of the animals. Tarzan goes to camp to get the lions back. There he sees many animals in cages. Tarzan warns the hunters to stay on their side of the river. To emphasize his warning, he calls wild animals to his side. Weir ignores Tarzan's warning and crosses the river to hunt. He catches the chimpanzee Cheetah. However, Cheetah soon escapes from her bamboo cage and alerts Tarzan.
During the night Tarzan and Boy sneak into the hunters' camp and steal their rifles. Tanya then wants to end the expedition, but Weir sends two of his native helpers to Ozira to get new rifles. The unarmed men are attacked by lions. One of the two survives and marches on into the jungle. Tarzan and Boy have now hidden their guns behind a waterfall. You return to the camp to free the caged animals. Tarzan saves Tanya from a leopard. He promises to lead Tanya out of the jungle. But Tanya discovers Cheetah's rifles through a mistake and re-arms her hunting expedition.
Weir's helper reaches Ozira and tells him about the emergency. Meanwhile, Tarzan and Boy find the son of the king, Suli, who was believed to be dead and is attacked by a python. Tarzan saves Suli and sends Boy to Jane while he brings Suli back to the village. They are attacked by three of Weir's men, but Tarzan easily defeated. Tarzan calls a herd of elephants to help them trample the hunters' camp. Marley, Weir and Ozira find their deaths. Tarzan rescues Boy and Jane from one of Weir's traps. He notices that Cheetah has sneaked aboard the plane Tanya and Smithers want to take off. The chimpanzee is fascinated by Tanya's make-up case. Tarzan, Boy, and Jane watch Cheetah get knocked out of the plane that takes off. It hangs on a parachute and lands safely, Tanya's make-up case in hand.
background
The film is the eleventh Tarzan adventure with Johnny Weissmüller as Tarzan. For Johnny Sheffield it was the last appearance as an adopted son Boy. Producer Lesser thought 16-year-old Johnny had outgrown the role.
Barton McLane was already seen in Tarzan and the Amazons as Tarzan's opponent.
The cameraman was Archie Stout again. The 1953 Oscar winner, like McLane, had worked for Tarzan and the Amazons . Production Manager Clem Beauchamp was already an Oscar winner. In 1936 he was honored in the no longer existing category Best Assistant Director .
Reviews
