Anthony Quayle

Sir John Anthony Quayle CBE , (born September 7, 1913 in Ainsdale , Sefton , Merseyside , United Kingdom , † October 20, 1989 in London , United Kingdom) was a British film and theater actor , director and writer .

Life

Quayle - he dropped his real first name John - served as a major in World War II before he began to work as an actor, first in the theater and later in film. He also wrote two novels , Eight Hours from England and On Such A Night . In addition, his autobiography , A Time to Speak, was published in 1990 .

He was married twice, between 1934 and 1941 to Hermione Hannen , and from 1947 until his death to Dorothy Hyson , both actresses. With Dorothy Hyson, Quayle had a son and two daughters, of whom Jenny Quayle also acts as an actress in front of the camera today.

In 1952 Quayle was promoted to CBE and knighted in 1955 . He died of liver cancer at the age of 76 .
