El Condor is an American Western, which in Spain was shot and strong influences of spaghetti Westerns reveals. The film, directed by John Guillermin , was released in German cinemas on September 9, 1971.

action

Luke, who has learned that there is a gold treasure in Fort El Condor, Mexico, escapes from a prison camp. He teams up with the crook Jaroo and convinces a group of Apaches, led by Santana, to attack the fort; they should get food and ammunition there. On their first attempt, Luke and Jaroo are captured by the fort's commander, Chavez.

Since Claudine, Chavez's wife, has fallen in love with Luke, she helps them escape. She later helps ensure that the fort can be raided by distracting the guards by undressing. Chavez escapes, and Jaroo shoots Santana when he discovers Santana has been playing double games. The Apaches then leave the fort with the food and ammunition. In the defenseless fort, Luke, Jaroo and Claudine are now alone with their disappointment when they find no gold - the alleged treasure is only made of lead.

criticism

Segnalazione Cinematografiche attested that the film was “not without moments of tension and spectacular scenes”, but criticized the fact that it “follows the usual paths of the genre and also includes the worse ideas”.

The Time Out Film Guide was clearer: “Too many cooks spoil the unsavory broth. The film is empty shrill, fashionably violent and it lacks any subtlety or actual tension. "

Remarks

Many Spanish actors can be seen in smaller roles, who were part of their “regular cast” during the heyday of European westerns.
