Henri Persin
Henri René Persin (born September 20, 1916 in Versailles , † July 29, 1985 in Moorea , French Polynesia ) was a French cameraman .
Live and act
Henri Persin received a photo-technical training and then worked as a camera assistant before he began to photograph short documentaries on his own in the early 1950s. In 1957 he switched to fiction and got to know and love the South Seas right from the start with his work in Tahiti . For almost a decade and a half, Persin was a sought-after cameraman for pleasing and popular entertainment films, in which he photographed international stars such as Errol Flynn , Trevor Howard , Gert Fröbe , Claudia Cardinale , Brigitte Bardot and again and again Michèle Mercier and Robert Hossein .
Persin celebrated particular success in the 1960s with some sturdy Eddie Constantine flogging films as well as the magnificently equipped Angélique costume and adventure stories, in which he was behind the camera between 1964 and 1967. In 1963 he received a Golden Globe Award for his photography for the war film The Longest Day , shot in France in 1961 . In English-language A-productions such as The Roots of Heaven , Charade and What's New, Pussy? he was employed as a second unit cameraman, most recently with the same as chief cameraman ( Der Sergeant, Viva Max !, El Condor ). In 1971, Henri Persin suddenly stopped filming and withdrew to the South Seas. There he spent his twilight years in French Polynesia.
