Andrzej Teodor Seweryn (born April 25, 1946 in Heilbronn ) is a Polish actor.

Life

His parents Zdzisław and Zofia Seweryn were deported to Germany for forced labor at the time of the Second World War and returned to Poland after the birth of their son .

He is the father of three children. Seweryn went to France in the late 1970s and established himself there as an actor. In 1979 he played alongside John Gielgud in Andrzej Wajda's film The Conductor and received the Silver Bear at the 1980 Berlinale for his performance in this film .

Today he plays at the famous Comedie Francaise in Paris and is an acting teacher at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts et Techniques du Theater in Lyon . Since the 1990s he has been seen more often in Polish film and theater productions, for example in the literary adaptations Pan Tadeusz based on Adam Mickiewicz and Zemsta based on Aleksander Fredro under the direction of Andrzej Wajda or in With Fire and Sword based on Henryk Sienkiewicz Directed by Jerzy Hoffman central roles. At the beginning of the new millennium, he was in talks to take over the management of the renowned Kraków Theater Teatr Stary , but turned it down. In 2006 Seweryn made his debut as a film director with the film Kto nigdy nie żył ... with Michał Żebrowski in the lead role.

2016 won Seweryn for his performance as an eccentric painter Jan P. Matuszyńskis family portrait Ostatnia rodzina the Best Actor Award of the International Film Festival of Locarno .

He has a daughter with the Polish actress Krystyna Janda . Maria Seweryn is now also an actress.
