Discovery and first film roles

Nicolas Duvauchelle was born in the French capital Paris in 1980. The charismatic actor with the smooth facial features, the rough voice and the almost completely tattooed right arm then attended a few auditions. In 1999, the French director Erick Zonca noticed the young actor and gave him the leading role in his film The Little Thief . In the drama, Duvauchelle plays young Esse, a country man who moves to town to find a job, but drifts into crime as a thief. This was followed by the collaboration with the director Claire Denis , who Duvauchelle used in two of her films. While the actor still acted in a supporting role in the award-winning drama The Foreign Legionnaire , a larger part followed in 2001 in Denis' controversial thriller Trouble Every Day , in which he embodied the object of desire for Béatrice Dalle .

Before Poids léger he acted in Xavier Giannoli's film Es brennt in mir in 2003 , which gave him his breakthrough as an actor in France.
