Erick Zonca

Erick Zonca (born September 10, 1956 in Orléans ) is a French film director and screenwriter .

Erick Zonca left his home country France at the age of 20 and went to the USA. He received acting lessons in New York and then returned to France. There he began working as an assistant director for television and made his first short film in 1992 . At the 1998 Cannes Film Festival , he presented his first feature film Love the Life . The two leading actresses Élodie Bouchez and Natacha Régnier were awarded the Actor Award for their performance in this film; In 1999 the film was honored with a César in the category Best Film . His next film The Little Thief (1999) was a success in German art house cinemas . In 2008 he presented his third feature film Julia in the competition at the Berlinale . The film is his first English-language film and is based on the John Cassavetes film Gloria, the gangster bride (1980). Tilda Swinton plays the title role .
