Austin Nichols (born April 24, 1980 in Ann Arbor , Michigan ) is an American actor .

Life

Nichols was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to David and Kay Nichols. His father is a radiologist and his mother is a professional water ski enthusiast . He has an older sister named Ashley. When Nichols was a year old, his family moved to Austin . He first attended Casis Elementary School and started water skiing himself at the age of two. Due to a shoulder injury, he later had to give up the sport and then devoted himself increasingly to acting. He took acting classes at the age of 15 and moved to Los Angeles after graduating from high school . He enrolled at the University of Southern California and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English.

He had his first acting role in 1999 in the film Durango Kids . This was followed by guest appearances in Sliders , CSI: On the trail of the perpetrators and Six Feet Under - Always Dying . His breakthrough came in 2004 when he took on bigger roles together with Kirsten Dunst in the films The Day After Tomorrow , alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid , and Wimbledon - Spiel, Satz und ... Liebe . Supporting roles in the television series Surface and John from Cincinnati followed , as well as other guest appearances in CSI: Miami and Deadwood .

From 2008 to 2012, Nichols starred in the television series One Tree Hill . Until the beginning of 2012 he was in a relationship with Sophia Bush , who was also part of the main cast of the series.
