Cristiana Capotondi (born September 13, 1980 in Rome ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Capotondi comes from an Italian family of Jewish descent. In 1993, at the age of 13, she first appeared in front of the camera in the television series Amico mio , which was broadcast on Rai Uno . She made her debut in a movie two years later in Vacanze di Natale '95 . In the following ten years Capotondi worked mostly in television productions such as the series Orgoglio . During this time she studied communication science at the Sapienza University of Rome , which she graduated with honors (110/110 e lode) in July 2005. Politically she was involved in the left-wing Partito Democratico of Walter Veltroni . In the German- speaking world, Capotondi became known to a wider audience in 2009 through the leading role of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary in the two- parter Sisi , which was first broadcast by ZDF and ORF .

In 2011 she was appointed to the jury of the Controcampo Italiano festival section at the 68th Venice International Film Festival .
