Franziska Weisz (born May 4, 1980 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film actress .

Life

Franziska Weisz (sometimes also Franziska Weiss or Weiss ) grew up in Breitenfurt near Vienna . After graduating from the Bundesrealgymnasium in Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna in 1998, she began studying business administration at the University of Vienna . She was discovered by accident as an actress in 1999 by the Austrian director Ulrich Seidl for his film Hundstage , in which she played the role of Klaudia . After filming, she began studying International Relations and Media in England, first at De Montfort University in Leicester and later at King's College in London , from which she graduated with a master's degree in Development and Environment. Even during her studies, she repeatedly took on roles in film and television productions and now focuses mainly on her acting career. At the Berlinale 2005 she was presented as the Austrian shooting star of European film. In 2010 the film Der Räuber , in which she played the lead role with Andreas Lust , was shown in the Berlinale competition. In 2014 the film Kreuzweg ran with her in the second leading role in the Berlinale competition. Weisz took over in 2015 as the successor of Petra Schmidt-Schaller 's role as a crime scene - Commissioner on the side of Wotan Wilke Mohring .

In 2015 she married the director Felix Herzogenrath , whom she met in 2012 while filming the ZDF series Die Bergretter .
