occupation

My murderer is an Austrian film that takes up the subject of child euthanasia . The location of the action is the “ Am Spiegelgrund ” hospital .

action

“Mein Mörder” tells of Hans, a boy who, at the age of ten, was sent to the Vienna children's euthanasia facility on Spiegelgrund on Baumgartner Höhe (today Steinhof , the hospital complex from then is now part of it) because of his school director - a fanatical National Socialist of the Otto Wagner Hospital). The head is Dr. Mannhart, a Nazi doctor. There Hans suffers abuse and humiliation and sees one of his fellow sufferers die. Since then he has suffered trauma .

Hans flees the institution. He goes to prison for knocking down his elementary school director ten years later . Here he meets Dr. Mannhart vom Spiegelgrund, who is now a brain researcher and prepares court reports. Hans says to him: "You are my murderer." To which the doctor replies: "You are crazy." He draws up an expert opinion that leads to Hans being sent to an institution for mentally abnormal law breakers.

backgrounds

The film is based on the story of the Nazi doctor Heinrich Gross and Friedrich Zawrels . 1975 sat Zawrel as a remand prisoner against Gross. He recognized him as his tormentor and accused him of his crimes. Gross then tried to have him instructed.

In 1979, however, the past caught up with Gross when the Viennese trauma surgeon Werner Vogt made the case public and was able to prove the correctness of his allegations in a court proceeding initiated by Gross.

Others

Friedrich Zawrel is briefly seen several times in the film as a spectator at the trial against Manhart.
