The Wega film is an Austrian film production company . The company founded in 1980 by Veit Heiduschka in Vienna is responsible for a number of successful feature and documentary film productions.

history

The first major success came in 1985 with Müller's office directed by Niki List , which had the highest number of visitors to any Austrian film since the 1950s. In the 1980s, he began working with the internationally renowned director Michael Haneke .

The directors of the 40 or so feature films produced up to 2006 include Andreas Gruber , Michael Kreihsl , Wolfgang Glück , Paulus Manker , Michael Verhoeven , Xaver Schwarzenberger , Barna Kabay , Andreas Prochaska , Jack Gold , Jean-Michel Ribes and Stefan Ruzowitzky . In the television feature film sector, productions were made with directors Michael Haneke, Peter Patzak , Johannes Fabrick , Gernot Friedel and Michael Cencig, among others . In the documentary film sector, productions with Elisabeth Scharang , Manfred Corinne , Pierre Colibeuf and Ulrich Seidl have already been made .

In 2006 Wega Film left the association of Austrian film producers (AAFP) , the association of Austrian film producers, in order to establish a new association, Film Austria , together with other production companies.
