Stefan Wolner (born March 11, 1975 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film director and producer.

Life

Born in Vienna in 1975, he has been involved in filmmaking since his early youth and watched a lot of television. He studied media technology and design and TV and film production, worked as a director and editor for Austrian radio (ORF) and made numerous short films, TV documentaries, etc. a. as part of his creative forge "Red Monster". He has worked as a director on numerous successful ORF formats such as B. Starmania, Taxi Orange or Dancing Stars involved. In 2005 his short film "Balls" won the Golden Shorts ( Vienna Short ) and has been shown at many international festivals. Balls is part of the short film trilogy Triangel with Franziska Weisz, Tamas Eperjessy and Dagmar Schwarz. Since 2015 Stefan Wolner has been working regularly with Kurt Langbein in the documentary field. Not least through this cooperation he was able to perfect his documentary narrative style. His two independent cinema documentaries "Mabacher - #unebbruch" and "Late Blossom Blues", which appeared in 2017, were shown at numerous festivals and won many international awards. Since 2008 he has also been intensively involved in series development. This is how the innovative multi-media, legends-based series concept “Vedunia” came about, which he developed with the scriptwriter Dietmar Zahn. The mini-series NACHTVOLK is currently being created, which also won the 2020 script competition "Heroines in Series". Stefan Wolner describes himself as a series freak.
