Battleship in the Village is an Austrian - German co-production from 2017 . During a shooting training session, the 13-year-old Franzi doesn't hit the empty wine bottle as usual, but his grandfather Anton Wolf. Anton falls into a coma , Franzi runs away disturbed without confiding in anyone. Two days later, Anton succumbs to his injuries. The rumor spreads in the village that Anton's son Franz was the shooter, the suspected motive is the ongoing dispute over the management of the farm between father and son. Franz protests his innocence, but his brother Josef seems to be the only one who believes in his innocence. When Anton's grandson Franzi turns himself in to the police, they don't believe him either.

The shooting took place from June 27th to July 29th, 2016, the shooting took place in Styria . Filming locations were, among others, Tragöß and Krakow . The film was produced by Film 27 , with Austrian radio and ZDF involved, and the production was supported by the Austrian TV Fund and CINESTYRIA Film Commission and Fund .
