Lane Edward Garrison (born May 23, 1980 in Dallas , Texas , USA ) is an American film actor .

Life

Childhood and youth

Lane Garrison grew up in difficult circumstances with his mother in Richardson (Texas), so that he moved from home at the age of 17. He lived with Joe Simpson, the father of the pop singers Ashlee and Jessica Simpson, for almost a year .

During that time, he graduated from JJ Pearce High School in 1998 and then moved to Los Angeles with the ambition to try acting. Indeed, this venture seemed to be a success, as his first job, a commercial for a backpack manufacturer, earned him $ 3,500.

Career

In 1999 Garrison first appeared in front of the camera in the episode film 4 Faces . After a few supporting roles, his breakthrough came in 2005 with the role of David "Tweener" Apolskis in 14 episodes of the action series Prison Break . His last engagement was in 2007 for the action film shooter alongside actors such as Mark Wahlberg , Michael Peña and Danny Glover .

Convictions

In May 2007, Garrison was tried in a California court. He was accused of driving his Land Rover into a tree while under the influence of alcohol on December 2, 2006 . Three students from Beverly Hills between the ages of 15 and 17 were passengers in the car, of which 17-year-old Vahagn Setian did not survive the accident. According to the investigators, cocaine was also found in the blood of Garrison . The actor had pleaded "guilty" and was then released on bail of 100,000 US dollars - with the condition that he should not consume alcohol. He was also deprived of his driver's license.

At an initial hearing in Los Angeles County District Court on August 3, 2007, Judge Elden S. Fox ordered Garrison to undergo a ninety-day psychological evaluation in a prison. A conviction should only be made after the results of the examination are available. On October 31, 2007, Garrison was sentenced to 40 months in prison. The actor was also sentenced to pay a fine of $ 300,000 to the Setian family as well as to the two surviving victims in reparation.

Garrison received criticism from the victim's father. The actor is said to have shot a commercial shortly before the hearing, with which he drew attention to the danger of alcohol abuse while driving. Karen Setian said that Garrison was an actor and acted as such. This publicity, according to Setian, was intended to create the impression that Garrison was sorry for a reduction in the sentence.

But in contrast to other prominent perpetrators such as Paris Hilton , Judge Fox promised not to allow any celebrity bonus to apply to Lane Garrison. Lane Garrison was on 20 November 2007 in the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility of San Diego detained after his detention in the Twin Towers facility in Los Angeles had to serve. As it became known in early August 2008, Garrison was transferred to eight different detention centers within a year and was most recently an inmate of the state prison in Tehachapi , California , where he had started a degree in political science .

On April 29, 2009, Garrison was released from prison for good conduct with a four-year probationary period. Since 2011 Garrison worked again as an actor.

On April 22, 2012, six days before his probation ended, Garrison was arrested again in Beverly Hills . He is believed to have injured his former girlfriend, playmate Ashley Mattingly, in the elevator of their North Palm Drive apartment . Garrison pleaded not guilty in the interrogation that followed . Nevertheless, the decision investigating judge to detain Garrison and put a deposit in the amount of $ 50,000 established. The trial against him was opened on July 11, 2012. He was facing another one year prison sentence; had the court found that Garrison violated his parole, an even stricter verdict. He was sentenced to two months in prison, a $ 2,500 fine, and attending therapy sessions for domestic violence and alcohol abuse.
