Richardson is a city in Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States , which extends into Collin County .

The city is a suburb of Dallas , lies on US Highway 75 , the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad , the Southern Pacific Railroad and the St. Louis and Southwestern Railroad and has a total area of 74.0 km² without any significant water surface.

According to the United States Census 2000 , 91,802 people lived here in 35,191 households and 24,774 families. The population density was 1,241.1 people per km². The racial the population was composed of 75.39% White, 6.18% African American , 0.45% American Indian , 11.67% Asian American , 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 3.65% from other races . About 2.60% were mixed race and 10.26% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 35,191 households, 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.1% of these were married couples living together. 8.9% were single mothers and 29.6% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were single households and there were people living in 5.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.07.
24.8% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.7% 18 to 24, 32.7% 25 to 44, 23.9% 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 97.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 95.2 men.
