Jensen Ross Ackles (born March 1, 1978 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American television actor and musician . He was best known for his leading role as "Dean Winchester" in the mystery series Supernatural .

Life

Jensen Ackles was born to Donna Joan and actor Alan Roger Ackles. He has a brother, Joshua, three years older, and a sister, Mackenzie, seven years younger. Ackles is of English, German and a small part of Scottish descent.

At the age of four, Ackles was a child model for a short time in front of the camera and then later, at the age of ten, again. After graduating from high school in 1996, he concentrated entirely on his acting career and in 1997 got a role in the soap opera Zeit der Sehnsucht , in which he played a recurring role in 18 episodes over three years. This was followed by supporting roles in television series such as Dawson's Creek , Dark Angel and Smallville , through which he made a name for himself. In the fall of 2005, Ackles took on one of the two leading roles in the mystery series Supernatural and has since played the role of Dean Winchester alongside Jared Padalecki . Since the sixth season he has also worked regularly as a director for the series.

Ackles has also been active as a musician for several years, so he was heard as a guest singer on various albums, for example on Jason Mann's albums Christmas with Friends (title Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ) and Covering with Friends (title Simple Man ) and on Steve Carlson's single Angeles . In 2018, Ackles formed the band Radio Company in collaboration with Steve Carlson. In November 2019 the band released their first album Vol. 1 .

Private life

In May 2010, Ackles married US actress Danneel Harris in his hometown of Dallas, Texas , with whom he had been dating since 2006. Their first child, a daughter, was born in May 2013. In December 2016, the two had twins, a girl and a boy.
