The Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment ASTE is a radio telescope for the submillimeter range.

The ASTE telescope with an antenna diameter of 10 m and a high-precision reflector surface was built by Mitsubishi Electric as a preliminary design for an antenna for the Atacama Large Millimeter Array ALMA. It has been in operation since 2004 as a single telescope for frequencies up to 900 GHz in the Pampa La Bola at an altitude of 4860 m near the ALMA site in Chile . ASTE is a project of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan , several Japanese universities and the Universidad de Chile .
