Michael Peña
Michael Anthony Peña (born January 13, 1976 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American film and stage actor .
Life
Peña was born in Chicago , Illinois to Nicolasa, a social worker , and Eleuterio Peña, a factory worker. His parents were originally farmers who emigrated from Mexico. His father comes from Villa Purificación, Jalisco and his mother from Charcas, San Luis Potosí .
After attending Hubbard High School in Chicago, Peña took part in the casting for a play by Peter Bogdanovich entitled To Sir With Love 2 and was hired among numerous young competitors. In 1994, Peña made his debut as a film actor and has since appeared in many popular television series and feature films.
His breakthrough came in 2006 in Oliver Stone's drama World Trade Center , in which Peña played a New York police officer who was buried under the rubble of the WTC on September 11, 2001 .
Peña lives in Los Angeles and, in addition to his acting career, is also a member of a band. He is a member of Scientology .
Private
He has been married to Brie Shaffer since 2006. The couple live in Los Angeles and have one son.
