Simon Helberg
Simon Maxwell Helberg (born December 9, 1980 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and comedian . International He gained fame for his role as Howard Wolowitz in the US - sitcom The Big Bang Theory .
Life
Helberg's father, who was born Sandy Helberg in Frankfurt am Main in 1949 , is an actor of German origin. His mother, Harriet Helberg (nee Birnbaum), is a casting director . He was raised in the Jewish faith. His acting studies, he graduated from the New York University belonging Tisch School of the Arts , where he in the Atlantic Theater Company was rehearsing.
In 1999 he got his first supporting role in the feature film Mumford . This was followed by other supporting roles in cinema and television productions as well as guest appearances in several series, including several episodes of MADtv and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip . From 2007 he played a leading role in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory produced by CBS . In it he plays as Howard Wolowitz , who is also of Jewish descent, the role of a nerd , as he had previously embodied in the film Party Animals and in the television series Joey . In 2013, he received the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in The Big Bang Theory . For his role in this series, he was also nominated four times for the Screen Actors Guild Award and in 2010 for the Teen Choice Award (Choice TV: Male Scene Stealer) together with the rest of the acting ensemble . In 2016 he starred in Stephen Frears ' film Florence Foster Jenkins . For this he received a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor in 2017 .
He has been married to actress Jocelyn Towne since 2007 . Their daughter was born on May 8, 2012, their son on April 23, 2014.
