The Critics' Choice Television Award in the category Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Original name: Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series ) is one of the awards , held annually in the United States by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association , a federation awarded by television critics, . It is aimed at actors who an outstanding performance in a supporting role in a comedy - TV series have provided. The category was launched in 2011. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by the association's television critics.

History and records

Since it was first awarded, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has awarded a total of ten awards in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category to nine different actors. The first to win was Neil Patrick Harris , who was honored in 2011 for his role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother . The last winner so far was Andrew Scott , who was honored in 2020 for his role as priest in Fleabag . The number of nominations was six from the first award, and seven in 2020.

The oldest winner at the age of 63 was the American Louie Anderson ( Baskets ) in 2016 , and the oldest nominated actor at the age of 71 in 2018 was the American Ed O'Neill ( Modern Family ). The youngest winner at the age of 32 was the American Simon Helberg ( The Big Bang Theory ) in 2013 , and the youngest nominated actor at the age of 9 in 2014 was the American Albert Tsai ( Trophy Wife ).
