Lawrence John "Jay" Duplass Jr. (born March 7, 1973 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American director , screenwriter , producer and actor . He often realizes his film projects in collaboration with his brother Mark Duplass . The brothers are considered to be important representatives of Mumblecore , although they are critical of this categorization.

Life and career

Jay Duplass was born in 1973 in New Orleans to Cindy and Larry Duplass.

Mark and Jay Duplass implemented their own film projects from the mid-2000s. His short film The Interference was awarded the Silver Bear for the Jury Prize (short film) at the 2005 Berlin Film Festival .

Her feature film debut was the road movie The Puffy Chair , released in 2005 , for which they both wrote, directed and produced. This was followed by the films Baghead (2008), Cyrus (2010), Jeff Who Still Lives at Home (2011) and The Do Deca Pentathlon (2012).
