Critics' Choice Television Award / Best Actor in a Drama Series

The Critics' Choice Television Award in the category Best Actor in a Drama Series (Original name: Best Actor in a Drama Series ) is one of the awards , held annually in the United States by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association , a federation awarded by television critics. It is aimed at actors who an outstanding performance in a leading role in a drama - TV series have provided. The category was launched in 2011. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by the association's television critics.

History and records

Since it was first awarded, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has awarded a total of eight awards in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category to six different actors. The first to win was Jon Hamm , who was honored in 2011 for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men . The last winner so far was Sterling K. Brown , who was honored in 2018 for his role as Randall Pearson in This Is Us . The number of nominations has been six since it was first awarded.

The oldest winner at 57 years of age was the American Bryan Cranston ( Breaking Bad ) in 2013 , the oldest nominated actor at 75 years of age was Briton Ian McShane ( American Gods ) in 2018 . The youngest winner at the age of 34 in 2016 was American Rami Malek ( Mr. Robot ), and the youngest nominated actor at the age of 22 in 2014 was the Briton Freddie Highmore ( Bates Motel ).
