This Is Us - Das ist Leben (Original title: This Is Us ) is an American television series that premiered on NBC on September 20, 2016 .

Due to the good ratings of the first episode, the first season of the series was increased from 13 to a total of 18 episodes. On January 18, 2017, NBC extended the series for a second and third season. On May 12, 2019, NBC announced the extension of the series for three more seasons.

In Switzerland, the first season ran on May 23, 2017 on the free TV channel TV24 . In Germany, the first season was broadcast on the free TV broadcaster ProSieben from May 24, 2017 .

The series, which is told in several time levels, follows the lives of three people who were born on the same day and their parents. Kate and Kevin Pearson were born in 1980 as part of a triplet, but the third child died. So the parents, Jack and Rebecca Pearson, who had set themselves firmly on three children, decided to adopt another child, Randall. The African-American boy, born on the same day, was abandoned outside a fire station by his father and later taken to the same hospital where Kate and Kevin were born. The story jumps between the childhood of the three protagonists with their parents in Pittsburgh and their current family life and careers in Los Angeles and New York City .
