Dan Fogelman (born February 19, 1976 ) is an American screenwriter , director and film and television producer .
Life
Fogelman grew up as the son of a Jewish family in River Vale , New Jersey , where he attended Pascack Valley High School. After attending college, he settled in Los Angeles in the late 1990s .
He began his career in Hollywood writing 60-second celebrity spots for the TV Guide Channel and was a production assistant on a television program for comedian Howie Mandel . From 2006 he wrote several scripts for animated films such as Cars , Bolt - A dog for all cases or Rapunzel - New spoiled .
From 2012 he devoted himself increasingly to the creation of television series. Fogelman is the showrunner of television series such as The Neighbors , Galavant , Pitch or This Is Us - This is life . In 2015 he directed a motion picture for the first time in Mr. Collins' Second Spring , in which Al Pacino took the leading role in the title. His second feature film So ist das Leben - Life Itself (2018) received mostly negative reviews.
In 2019, Fogelman signed a five-year master agreement with 20th Century Fox Television that, according to industry reports, is worth $ 125 million.
Fogelman has been married to actress Caitlin Thompson since 2015 . The couple live in Los Angeles .
