The Neighbors is an American science fiction - sitcom from Dan Fogelman . The series consists of two seasons and 44 episodes and was produced from 2012 to 2014 by ABC Studios in collaboration with Kapital Entertainment for the television channel ABC . It was first broadcast on September 26, 2012 on ABC.

In the series The Neighbors , the Weaver family is in for a very special surprise. The Weavers are delighted to move into an exclusive, gated community in New Jersey . Your new neighbors act a little strange and eventually turn out to be aliens in human form. The Weavers are the first humans to live in the neighborhood of the aliens from the planet Zabvron, who have been hiding on Earth for 10 years.
The family wants to leave the settlement as soon as possible. But the aliens seem quite harmless and the Weavers like the new house, so they decide to stay and introduce their new neighbors to everyday life on earth.

The series The Neighbors received a series order with 13 episodes in mid-May 2012. The series started on September 26, 2012 following Modern Family , before running an hour earlier between The Middle and Modern Family from the next week . On September 29, 2012, ABC commissioned nine more episodes, the so-called back-nine-order , so that the first season has 22 episodes. The first season finale was shown on March 27, 2013. Although the audience ratings were 5 to 6 million viewers and a target group rating of less than 2.0, ABC extended the series in May 2013 by a second season, which aired from September 20, 2013 to April 11, 2014.
ABC discontinued the series in May 2014.

In Germany, sent free TV transmitter Disney Channel , the first season of the series from September 24 to December 3, 2014. The second season aired December 10, 2014 to March 25, 2015.
