Ryan Michelle Bathé , also Ryan Michelle Bathe (born July 27, 1976 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actress , mainly through her roles in the television series Boston Legal , Retired at 35 and This Is Us is known.

Live and act

Bathé grew up in Stamford , Connecticut and graduated from Stanford University and New York University , the latter with a Master of Fine Arts. During her studies at Stanford University she met her partner and future husband Sterling K. Brown . They have been married since 2007 and have two sons together. Bathé has guest and starred roles on a number of television series including Emergency Room , Half & Half , Friends , Brothers & Sisters , and How I Met Your Mother . She was part of the leading cast of the second season of the ABC series Boston Legal up to half of the time, where she played lawyer Sara Holt. From 2009 to 2010, she had a recurring role in the short-lived NBC hospital drama Trauma, and in 2011 she starred on the TV country sitcom Retired at 35 . She then starred in a recurring role alongside her husband Sterling K. Brown in the lifetime drama series Army Wives . She has been in a recurring role in This Is Us since 2016 , another series in which her husband Brown is involved.
