Sterling K. Brown
Sterling Kelby Brown (born April 5, 1976 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor .
Life
Sterling K. Brown was born to Sterling Brown, Sr., and Aralean Banks Browns. He has two sisters and two brothers who he grew up with in Olivette . Up to the age of ten, his nickname was his middle name Kelby. After the death of his father, at the age of 16, he decided to use the name Sterling as a nickname in his honor. He completed his studies, which he completed with a bachelor's degree, in drama at Stanford University . He then attended New York University . There he obtained a Masters in Fine Arts.
After graduating, Brown began his career in various regional theaters. He has also appeared on television since 2002, including appearances in Emergency Room - The Emergency Room , New York Cops - NYPD Blue , JAG - On behalf of the Honor , Boston Legal and Good Wife . He had his first leading role in 2005 in the comedy series Starved . Between 2006 and 2007 he appeared in Supernatural as Gordon Walker . He had another leading role from 2007 to 2012 in 102 episodes of the Lifetime series Army Wives . In season seven, he was a recurring performer on the series. Between 2012 and 2013, he was also featured as a recurring guest actor in six episodes of Person of Interest . For his series role as Christopher Darden in the first season of American Crime Story , he won the 2016 Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a TV Movie. Since September 2016 he can be seen in a leading role in the series This Is Us - Das ist Leben . For his portrayal of Randall Pearson , he won an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award in 2017 for best actor in a drama series.
He is married to actress Ryan Michelle Bathe . Their first child was born in 2012 and a second later followed.
