Justin Paul Theroux [ θəˈruː ] (born August 10, 1971 in Washington, DC ) is an American actor , screenwriter and director .

life and career

Justin Theroux grew up in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington. His father Eugene Theroux is a lawyer and his mother Phyllis Theroux is an author and worked as a journalist a. a. for the New York Times . Theroux has two siblings and three half-siblings. His uncle is the writer Paul Theroux . His cousins are the journalists and documentary maker Louis Theroux and Marcel Theroux . Justin Theroux is also the nephew of the writer and poet Alexander Theroux .

He spent his school days in a boarding school in Williamstown , Massachusetts . There he came into contact with acting for the first time and toured with the theater group of the school for performances as far as Mexico City . After graduating from Bennington College in Vermont with a degree in visual arts and acting , Theroux moved to New York City and starred in a number of off-Broadway plays. He made his film debut in 1996 in Mary Harron's I Shot Andy Warhol . On television he was seen in the series The District , Alias ​​- Die Agentin , Six Feet Under - Always dies and Sex and the City . Theroux was in a relationship with costume designer Heidi Bivens for 14 years until they separated in spring 2011. Since August 5, 2015, he was married to his fellow actress Jennifer Aniston . The couple got closer in 2011 while filming the movie Wanderlust - The Trip of a Lifetime. In February 2018, the couple announced their split.
