Marcel Raymond Theroux [ θəˈruː ] (born June 13, 1969 in Kampala , Uganda ) is a British documentary filmmaker and writer of French-Canadian-Italian descent.

Life

Born in Africa where his father taught at Makerere University , he grew up in Singapore and London . He attended the prestigious Westminster School and studied English literature at Clare College . He mainly produces his documentaries about environmental problems for Channel 4 .

He received the Somerset Maugham Award in 2002 (for Who Was Patrick March? ) And the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Strange Bodies in 2014 .

Marcel Theroux is one of the sons of Paul Theroux and brother of the television presenter Louis Theroux . His cousin is the actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux .
