Laura Harring
Laura Harring Countess von Bismarck-Schönhausen (born Laura Elena Martinez Herring, born March 3, 1964 in Los Mochis , Sinaloa , Mexico ) is an American actress and Miss USA of 1985. She probably played her best-known role in 2001 in David Lynchs Thriller Mulholland Drive - Street of Darkness .
Life
Harring lived in Mexico for the first ten years before the family relocated to San Antonio , Texas . At 16, Harring went to school at Aiglon College (high school) in Switzerland . After graduating, she went back to the USA and successfully participated in several Miss elections. She was Miss El Paso and Miss Texas, among others. Harring was the first Hispanic woman to be named Miss USA (1985). In 1987 she married the German Carl-Eduard von Bismarck , but the marriage was divorced two years later. She still bears the name Countess von Bismarck-Schönhausen today.
After the divorce, Harring decided to study theater at the London Academy of Performing Arts. At the beginning of her film career, she was often seen in series such as Sunset Beach , Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu , Blossom and Frasier . She had her greatest success in 2001 with the role of Rita in the film Mulholland Drive - Street of Darkness by David Lynch . Since that film, she has been seen in many films, mostly in smaller roles, such as John Q or The Punisher . She was also seen in eight episodes of The Shield series.
