Chasing Life is an American television series that has aired on ABC Family since June 10, 2014 . Initially, 21 episodes were ordered. Chasing Life is an adaptation of the Spanish-language television series Terminales on the Mexican television broadcaster Televisa . The German-language first broadcast has been on the free TV station Disney Channel since January 13, 2015 . In early November 2014, the broadcaster extended the series to include a 13-part second season. The series was discontinued at the beginning of October 2015.

The focus of the series is April, 24, a smart, quick-witted, aspiring journalist for a Boston newspaper trying to impress her ruthless editor-in-chief. When she's not looking for the next headline, April struggles to reconcile her ambitious career with her family - as if there were her widowed mother, her rebellious little sister Brenna and her loving grandmother. Just when everything seemed perfect at work, at home and in love (with colleague Dominic), April receives the devastating news that she has leukemia .

- April Carver is a young reporter who works for the (fictional) newspaper The Boston Post . Her life takes an unexpected turn when she is diagnosed with leukemia .
- Sara Carver is the mother of April and Brenna. She is a therapist by profession who, despite her training, is not very good with people outside of the office.
- Brenna Carver is April's rebellious teenage sister who has been in a downward spiral since her father's death. In addition to dealing with the changes in April's life, Brenna struggles with the feelings she feels about two people: trainee tattoo parlor employee Kieran and her classmate Greer. She meets with both Kieran and Greer.
- Dominic Russo is an entertainment reporter for the Boston Post and is dating April.
- Beth Kingston is April's best friend. She is the first to learn of April's illness and her staunchest supporter.

The airing of the first ten episodes of the first season began on June 10, 2014 on ABC Family immediately following the premiere of the fifth season of Pretty Little Liars and ended on August 12, 2014 with the summer finale. A special Christmas episode aired on December 9, 2014. From January 19 to March 23, 2015, the station showed the second half of the first season. The broadcast of the second season is scheduled to begin on July 6, 2015.
