Joanna Kerns (* 12 February 1953 in San Francisco , California as Joanna Crussie DeVarona ) is an American film and television actress and director . She is known to German audiences from the series Our loud home .

Life

Joanna Kerns was born Joanne Crussie DaVarona in San Francisco , the daughter of Martha Louise Smith, a clothing store manager, and David Thomas DaVarona, an insurance salesman . She is of Mexican and Irish-American descent. Joanna's sister is the former Olympic swimmer Donna de Varona . This won two gold medals in Tokyo in 1964. Her aunt is the well-known silent film actress Miriam Cooper . She also has two brothers named David and Kurt.

Kerns has been married to Marc Appleton for the second time since 1994. From her first marriage to Richard Kerns (married from 1976 to 1984) the daughter Ashley Cooper Kerns emerged.

Career

Joanna Kerns played in numerous film and television productions in her career. Her best-known role in Germany is that of Maggie Malone Seaver in the sitcom Unser lautes Heim , which ran from 1985 to 1992 on ABC in the USA and was broadcast in Germany on ProSieben from 1993. Kerns plays the role of mother at the side of Alan Thicke , who cares for the children Mike ( Kirk Cameron ), Carol ( Tracey Gold ) and Benjamin ( Jeremy Miller ).
