The gorilla escapes from the ship off the coast of South Korea, kills a great white shark and goes ashore. There he destroyed numerous villages and caused panic among the population. When he meets the US actress Marilyn Baker, who is currently shooting a film on location, he kidnaps her. Her friend, the journalist Tom Rose, tries to rescue her from the South Korean army together with Captain Kim. But when the army attacks the giant gorilla, he only shows them the finger . During the attack, however, Marilyn manages to escape. Together with Tom both drive to the capital Seoul . The gorilla pursues them, however, and support is requested from the US Army under Colonel Davis stationed in the country. Eventually the gorilla is killed and Tom explains to Marilyn that the gorilla was just too big for our small world.

reception

A * P * E has been called one of the worst movies of all time; mainly the bad special effects and the gorilla costume were received negatively. John Wilson , the founder of the golden raspberry, describes the monkey costume as follows:

"Looks more like your grandmother's lamb's wool coat collar than an actual simian."

"It looks more like grandmother's wool jacket collar than a real monkey."
