characters

main characters

  • Ginnie ( Jennifer Esposito ): She is the oldest of the four sisters (31), determined, emotional, a successful lawyer and lives in Manhattan with her husband Bob.
  • Anne ( Kiele Sanchez ): The second oldest of the sisters (probably 29). Anne is a therapist with her own practice and also lives in Manhattan. She has been with Danny for a long time, but has to fight hard for him in the first season.
  • Marjee (Lizzy Caplan): Marjee is 23 and the most chaotic in the family. She dropped out of college, can never keep a job, and is not interested in serious relationships with men. Most of the first season she works as a party planner.
  • Rose ( Laura Breckenridge ): The youngest of the sisters and the "baby" in the family. She is 19 and studies at NYU (initially medicine, but at the beginning of the series she switched to the "Experimental Theater Wing", ie to the theater). In the first season she makes her first contacts with sex and relationships, and tries to find herself.
  • Bob Spencer ( Callum Blue ): Bob is Ginnie's husband. He is from England and works as a sound engineer in the music buses.

Important figures

  • Joe Sorelli ( Tom Irwin ): Joe Sorelli, father of the Sorelli sisters. He lives in Brooklyn and will marry Renée during the first season. He owns a deli.
  • Joel ( Kyle Howard ): Joel is studying medicine at NYU. He is Rose's best friend and in love with her.
  • Renée ( Christine Ebersole ): Renée is "only" Joe's girlfriend at first, but later they get married.
  • Danny ( Dan Futterman ): Danny is Anne's ex-boyfriend. The two were together for six years, but Danny breaks up. But they still love each other and try to get back together, which is made more difficult by external circumstances. Danny also owns a Manhattan restaurant called Sabroso.
  • Jason Greenstein ( Julian Ovenden ): Jason is initially with Trish, but then leaves to be with Marjee.
  • Marco ( Victor Webster ): Marco works at Joe's deli and has a brief relationship with Anne.
  • Zach ( Andrew Keegan ): Zach is a college student and lives in the same dorm as Rose. He and Anne have a brief relationship after Danny broke up with her.
  • Trish Houghton ( Anne Ramsay ): Trish is Marjee's boss at times. Obsessed with her dog, she is dating Jason Greenstein, who has an affair with Marjee.
  • Alex Brody ( Chris Carmack ): Alex is Rose's friend for a while (they are together in the Experimental Theater Wing). But he leaves her and goes to Hollywood to become a star.
