He is secretly hired by Norman Tuttle, an inventor and computer expert at the FBI who heads the Street Hawk project , which is a super motorcycle that can go up to 500 km / h. During the day, Mach continues to work at his desk as camouflage, but at night he hunts criminals with Street Hawk .

background

The producers of the Knight Rider- style series focused on elaborate stunts and special effects, but the series was unsuccessful and was discontinued after 13 episodes. On German television, the series was broadcast several times on RTL from 1986 to 1991 and several times on Super RTL from 1995 to 1998 . The German group Tangerine Dream contributed the soundtrack for the series . It is the title Le Parc from the album of the same name from 1985.

Young George Clooney had one of his first supporting television roles in The Best Friend episode at the age of 23 . Bianca Jagger played the vicious dictator widow Simone Prevera in the episode The Double .

The motorcycle

A total of 15 motorcycles were converted for the series. A 1983 Honda XL 500 was used for the pilot. Three Honda XR 500 from 1984 served as the basis for the machines to be seen in the series. Eleven other Honda CR 250 machines from 1984 were used for stunts. All the add-on parts or panels were mounted on various Honda models. There were a total of around four different variants, the width of the panels varied as well as various decorations.

In the series, the motorcycle had various special functions, similar to KITT from Knight Rider. The motorcycle was able to lift off the ground using compressed air, so obstacles could easily be jumped over. When using the Hyperthrust at a top speed of over 500 km / h, the motorcycle was remote-controlled from the control center. The armament consisted of a machine gun, missiles and a laser. Winfield Special Projects in Canooga Park made all the facings and special effects. Eric Thaler from Austria was responsible for the project at Winfield's.
