Life
His parents named him after James Kirk from the Star Trek series Starship Enterprise . His family is of Swiss descent. Kirk is the brother of the actress Candace Cameron , known from the series Full House .
Kirk Cameron was best known for the series Our Loud Home , in which he played Mike Seaver from 1985 to 1992 . For this role he received the Young Artist Award three times and was nominated twice for the Golden Globe Award . From 1995 to 1997 he also played the title role in the comedy series Kirk .
Cameron has referred to himself as a born again Christian since he was 17 . He has his own Christian evangelical television show The Way of the Master , which he hosts with Ray Comfort . A sermon by Cameron was quoted in Bill Maher's satirical documentary Religulous . In the program Piers Morgan Tonight on March 2, 2012, he spoke out in favor of lifelong marriage between man and woman, as it was already defined in Adam and Eve and that he would never redefine it.
Regarding homosexuality, he said: “ I think that it's unnatural. I think that it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization. ”(German:“ I think it's unnatural. I think it's harmful and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization. ”) The backlash to this came Maureen Flannigan , Christine Lakin , Brice Beckham , Jeremy Licht , Josie Davis , Keith Coogan , Kenn Michael and other child stars of his day as Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron (CCOKC) in the humorous video from comedy video website Funny or Die . They replied to Cameron that he should know better, since he had met numerous homosexuals while producing the television series. And they asked him to name a cause by which homosexuals had hurt him, his relatives, or civilization. LGBTs are not a threat, they just want to live and love in peace and quiet.
