Candace Helaine Cameron Bure (born April 6, 1976 in Panorama City , Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress , producer and former child actress .

Life

Candace is the sister of actor Kirk Cameron , known from the series Our Loud Home . She also has two sisters. Her family is originally from Switzerland .

Her former series colleague Dave Coulier from Full House introduced her to the then ice hockey player Valeri Bure . The two have been married since June 23, 1996 and have three children. She lives with her family alternately in Calgary ( Canada ) and Los Angeles .

Career

Cameron appeared in numerous commercials at the age of five. She had smaller appearances in television series (including 1983 Alice ; 1984 TJ Hooker ; 1987 Who's the boss here? ) And films (including 1986 The Adventures of the 5 Little Spies ; 1987 Isn't she wonderful? ). Her breakthrough came when she was selected in July 1986 for the role of Donna Jo Margaret (DJ) Tanner on the television series Full House . She played this role for eight years from 1987 to 1995.

In 1987 and 1988 she had two guest appearances in the series Our Loud Home ( Growing Pains ), in which her brother Kirk played one of the leading roles. In 1992 she and her full-house colleagues Andrea Barber , Lori Loughlin and Bob Saget had a small guest role in the television film Kidnapping der Nervensäge ( To Grandmother's House We Go ). The main roles in this film were played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen , who shared the role of Michelle Tanner, her sister in the series, in Full House .

In addition to the role in Full House , Cameron also starred in various television films such as Monster Mash and Big Foot . After full house , she was often the leading actress in problematic films like Humiliated! (1996).

Her last film appearance for a long time was in the film The Krew (2001). She was also the executive producer on this film. It was not until 2011 that she took on a leading role in the US TV film Truth Be Told .

From 2016 to 2020 she continued her role as DJ Tanner in the series Fuller House . There she worked as a producer and director since the fourth season.
