action

The writer Paige Summerland is on her way to New York City to spend Christmas with her fiancé Jack Collins and future in-laws. She is optimistic that her upcoming wedding will be just as perfect as her articles, which reflect her rules of life. On the plane she has to sit next to Dylan MacKenzie, an unromantic bartender who has been traveling to his family for four years - but is not particularly looking forward to it. Due to a heavy snow storm, your flight to Buffalo is diverted. From there she takes the shuttle bus to the Buffalo Airport Hotel, where she is assigned a room next to Dylan of all people. Even during the flight he showed little understanding for her romantically transfigured way of seeing the world and now she still has to deal with him in the hotel.

Since Paige is convinced that a flight to New York will soon be possible, she returns to the airport terminal, where she befriends Frank and Maxine, whose twenty-year marriage does not seem very ideal. Unfortunately, the snowstorm has turned north and the airport in Buffalo has completely closed for at least two days, making a “perfect Christmas” for the in-laws seem very unlikely. Meanwhile, Dylan rents a four-wheel drive SUV and offers Paige, Maxine, and Frank to take her to New York City. The snowstorm forces them on the back streets of the state of New York to a small town, where they drive off the road and now have to spend Christmas Eve in the small hotel "O Tannenbaum Inn". Paige and Dylan get to know each other better and so Paige learns why her companion has so little understanding for the perfect partnership Paige strives for. Dylan's former fiancée had left him for his own brother, robbing him of all illusions about true love. Frank and Maxine rediscover their love for each other this Christmas Eve and Dylan also begins to be more and more interested in Paige. However, Paige feels a little uncomfortable with the developing friendship between her and Dylan. She is convinced that she and Jack are meant for each other because in her imagination it cannot be otherwise. Nevertheless, she realizes that this Christmas actually feels good with Dylan and so they kiss under a mistletoe. Worried about her feelings for Dylan, Paige unceremoniously leaves the next morning with a trucker who takes her to New York City, where she can finally hug her Jack.

Dylan Frank and Maxine also make their onward journey. When Dylan drops them off in front of their Connecticut house , Maxine reveals to him that she overheard Paige's phone call, so she knows that Paige and her fiancé are going to have dinner at the Glen Rock Country Club. Dylon should use the opportunity to visit Paige again before they lose sight of each other. After Dylan pays his mother's Christmas visit and is reconciled with his brother and ex-fiancée, he drives to Glen Rock and tries to convince Paige that Jack is not the perfect man for her. When she realizes she actually loves Dylan, she returns the engagement ring to Jack and follows her true soulmate.

A little later, Dylan and Paige arrive at his mother's loving home to spend Christmas together.

criticism

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm rated: “How the story ends is clear after two minutes. It doesn't have to be bad if the road to a happy ending is paved with pointed dialogues and witty ideas. But that is not the case here. Instead: Christmas kitsch and emotionalism. "Conclusion:" Just a lukewarm heart warmer "
