Keith Coogan (born January 13, 1970 in Palm Springs , California ) is an American actor and former child actor .

Life

Coogan's maiden name was Keith Eric Mitchell. In 1986 he changed his name to Keith Coogan. Growing up as the grandson of Jackie Coogan , he began his career early on by appearing in television commercials. He made his television debut in 1978 in three television films. He subsequently received guest roles on television series such as CHiPs , Fantasy Island and Love Boat . In 1979 he played the son of Clu Gulager in the series The MacKenzies of Paradise Cove , which was canceled after the first six episodes. In 1979 and 1980 he appeared in a recurring guest role as Jeffrey Burton in The Waltons . There were other television appearances, including a series of Knight Rider , for which he with the Young Artist Award was awarded, as well as a voice in Disney - Cartoons Fox and the Hound . Coogan's feature film debut was in 1987 in the directorial debut of Chris Columbus , the comedy Night of Adventure . In the years that followed, he starred in a few other films such as Affair , Boy Soldiers, and Fast Food Family . However, his film career stalled, and so he starred in B-movies and direct-to-video productions in later years .
