Carl-Eduard Otto Wolfgang Jayme Anders Graf von Bismarck-Schönhausen (born February 16, 1961 in Zurich ) is a German politician and former member of the CDU .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Wentorf in 1982 , von Bismarck did his military service as a reserve officer candidate until 1984 . From 1985 to 1987 he trained as a banker in New York City and then studied international economic relations and trade in Los Angeles . From 1989 to 1992 he was assistant to the management of Investor Treuhand , known through its partner Mario Ohoven , in Düsseldorf . Since 1993 he has been working for the Princely von Bismarck Administration in Friedrichsruh . From 2003 to 2005 von Bismarck was the founding president of the Federal Association of Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) and in 2005 he founded the Bismarck Business Council and Economy - That-are-we-all .

family

Carl-Eduard von Bismarck is the great-great-grandson of the former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck , great-grandson of Herbert von Bismarck and grandson of the former member of the Bundestag and President of the Parliamentary Society Otto Fürst von Bismarck .

He is the eldest son from the marriage of Ferdinand von Bismarck and Elisabeth, née Lippens. The entrepreneur Gottfried von Bismarck, who died in 2007, was his brother. Carl-Eduard von Bismarck sits for the family on the board of directors of the federal Otto von Bismarck Foundation in Friedrichsruh.

Von Bismarck's first marriage was from 1987 to 1989 with the American actress Laura Martinez Harring . In his second marriage, he was married to Celia Demaurex from 1997 to 2004 . Von Bismarck was married to Nathalie Bariman for the third time since 2004, but she filed for divorce in January 2014. The marriage with Bariman has a son and a daughter. In 2016 he married Alessandra Silvestri-Lévy.

Von Bismarck lives in Friedrichsruh , district of the Duchy of Lauenburg .

Von Bismarck joined the CDU in 1995 and was deputy chairman of the CDU district association of the Duchy of Lauenburg from 1999 to 2007.

From 1998 to 2007 von Bismarck was a member of the Aumühle municipal council .

On April 25, 2005 he replaced the MP Peter Harry Carstensen elected Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein in the Bundestag . In the federal election in 2005 he was directly elected member of the Bundestag constituency of the Duchy of Lauenburg - Stormarn-Süd . He got 44.4% of the first votes .

Because of his frequent absence from plenary sessions of the Bundestag, the Bild newspaper described him in an article in May 2007 as a particularly "lazy MP". The political magazine Panorama also presented him in a report in May 2007 as one of the particularly lazy MPs. He was also accused of neglecting his constituency and missing CDU committee meetings. Bismarck apologized for having suffered from accidental back pain for three years, which meant that he could not perform his office, and that he was duly reported sick.

After several calls for resignation were made from his constituency, von Bismarck resigned his mandate retrospectively on December 10, 2007 on December 19, 2007 and resigned from the CDU district association the following year. The CDU politician Helmut Lamp took over for him.
