action

Daniel Holden was still in high school at the age of 18 when he was sentenced to death for the rape and subsequent brutal murder of his then 16-year-old girlfriend Hanna . The judgment was based on testimony and a confession from the accused. After 19 years on death row, a new DNA analysis reveals that the sperm traces on the corpse did not come from Holden. He was released and returned to his former hometown of Paulie, Georgia.

During the time of Daniel's imprisonment, his mother Janet remarried, so that his stepfather Ted Senior and his son Ted Junior ("Teddy") and his wife Tawney belong to his immediate environment. Also, the teenage boy Jared, the son of Janet and Ted Senior, is part of the family. Above all, his sister Amantha is keen to integrate Daniel. Meanwhile, the former prosecutor in Daniel's case, Roland Foulkes , who has meanwhile been promoted to senator , is still convinced of Daniel's guilt and tries to get him back behind bars and into the electric chair together with the sheriff.
