Luke Kirby (born June 21, 1978 in Hamilton , Ontario ) is a Canadian actor .

Life and accomplishments

Kirby's parents were American hippies who moved to Canada from New York City in 1974 . He studied at the National Theater School of Canada in Montreal . The actor made his debut alongside Piper Perabo and Mischa Barton in the 2001 film drama Lost and Delirious . In the comedy Mambo Italiano (2003), he played the lead role of a homosexual Canadian of Italian descent. For this role he was nominated for the Canadian Comedy Award in 2004.

In the biopic Shattered Glass (2003) Kirby was seen at the side of Hayden Christensen . For his appearances in the television series The Eleventh Hour and in the television drama Sex Traffic (2004), he was nominated in two categories for the Gemini Award in 2005. In the western comedy All Hat (2007) he played one of the leading roles alongside Rachael Leigh Cook . From 2013 to 2016 he starred as Jon Stern in the Sundance Channel- produced television series Rectify . He won an Emmy in 2019 for the guest role of the real comedian Lenny Bruce in the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel .
