Christopher Evan Welch (born September 28, 1965 in Fort Belvoir , Virginia - † December 2, 2013 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Career

Christopher Evan Welch received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Dallas and then his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington . He made his first acting experience in the early 1990s in Seattle and New York on Off-Broadway , where he won an Obie Award for his role as Harold Mitchell in the play Endstation Sehnsucht .

In 1999 he turned to television and appeared as a guest actor in television series such as Third Watch - Operation at the Limit , Practice - The Lawyers , Criminal Intent - Crime in Sight , Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Whoopi, as well as in the TV movie Hamlet . He played his first major film roles in 2004 and 2005 in the films The Women of Stepford , Keane and The Interpreter . In 2006 he portrayed in Lasse Hallstrom's film drama The Hoax the Albert Vander Kamp , before he in Woody Allen's comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona was heard as a leading through the film narrator.

Around 2010 he worked on Whatever Works again with Woody Allen and has guest roles on a number of series including Law & Order , Nurse Jackie and Good Wife . During the same period, he received a leading role as Grant Test in AMC's Rubicon , which was discontinued after one season and 13 episodes. He then appeared in supporting supporting roles in the two film dramas The Master and Lincoln in 2012 . Welch played one of his last roles in the tenth episode of the crime series Golden Boy and alongside Tina Fey and Paul Rudd in the romantic comedy Allowed - Give Love a Chance . Shortly before his death, he was in front of the camera for the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley . The series was in April 2014 Premiere and brought Welch posthumously nominated for the Critics' Choice Television Awards 2014 as Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series one.

Christopher Evan Welch died of cancer on December 2, 2013 at the age of 48 in Los Angeles, California . He left behind his wife and a daughter.
