William Jackson Harper

William Fitzgerald Harper (born February 8, 1980 in Dallas , Texas ), known to the public as William Jackson Harper , is an American actor .

Life and education

William Fitzgerald Harper was born on February 8, 1980 in Dallas, Texas. 2003 he graduated with a degree in performing arts at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design . He later changed his name to the stage name William Jackson Harper for appearances . He stated that he put his mother's maiden name in the middle of his stage name and thus had the opportunity to honor both parents.

Career

After graduating, he played in several small roles with and had in 2007 made his first appearance in Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Chayne Danforth. Between 2009 and 2011 he had his first leading role in the children's series The Electric Company . Harper made his first Broadway appearance in 2014 as James Harrison and Stokely Carmichael in All The Way .

Since 2016 he has played the main role Chidi Anagonye in the series The Good Place . Before he got the role, he considered quitting acting. Although he didn't know exactly what the series was about initially, he received largely positive reviews for his appearance.
