life and career

Anthony Carrigan is from Boston. At the age of three he was diagnosed with alopecia areata , an autoimmune disease that causes localized circular hair loss. For a long time he was ashamed of it and tried to hide the bald spots, even at the beginning of his acting career. In 2008 he took on his first role in front of the camera with a guest appearance in Criminal Intent . As his disease progressed, he soon began to lose more hair. In 2009 he was cast in the role of Tyler Davies in the series The Forgotten in a recurring role. He wore fake eyebrows during filming, as the real ones and the eyelashes had also failed him at the time. In the meantime he stands by his illness and regards his appearance as positive, as it is particularly suitable for certain role profiles, especially antagonist roles.

After The Forgotten , he also took on a recurring role in Parenthood . After guest appearances on The Blacklist and The Flash , Carrigan was cast in the role of Victor Zsasz in the series Gotham in 2014 , which he played until 2019. In 2018 he took on a leading role as NoHo Hank in the series Barry . 2019 was nominated for an Emmy in the category Best Supporting Actor - Comedy Series for his acting performance .
